Office for National Statistics data shows Covid was only the third biggest killer in England and Wales in March, accounting for 4,387 out of total 48,551 deaths (9 per cent).

Of the people whose deaths were announced Friday, three were in their 90s, six were in their 80s, three were in their 70s and one was in their 60s.
