Scientists at the University of North Carolina raised the concern because research shows the flu jab is less effective in obese people because high blood sugar disrupts the immune system.

It was the second day in a row with more than 10 reported deaths — something that’s only happened one other time since June 19 and 20. Of the people whose deaths were announced Friday, three were in their 90s, six were in their 80s, three were in their 70s and one was in their 60s.
